When it rains it pours and the water has to go somewhere. Storm drains have their purpose in the urban landscape to regulate water, prevent flooding, and feed local ponds that exist in various areas.
How do you regulate your artistic passions within your life? Do you challenge yourself on a regular basis? What personal projects are you working on to continue to hone your skill set as a photographer? How strong is your network amongst your fellow artists? How are you allowing the water of creativity to flow within your craft?

Cape Fear Community Photo Shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina on 08 July 2012. The photo event was free and open to the public. Models, make up artists, fashion designers, and studio equipment were all provided for free to any of the photographers who attended the event. There were 6 different photo stations with various sets and props. It was very nice to meet some of the photographers I talk with on Facebook in photography groups at the event. The range of photographer skill sets at the event were from newcomers to professionals. I had a great time and hope to participate in an event like this again. I made some new network connections at the event, it was a success.

197/365 - Smith Creek Bridge on Flickr.
© 2012 Eric Adeleye Photography. I’ve been wanting to photograph Smith Creek Bridge for quite some time. I drive by this location often and made including this spot in my Project 366 a priority because of the rich detail and grit of the location, and the fact that I’ll try to do a photo shoot with a client on this bridge at some point in the future. I find myself constantly scouting out spots to photograph and to do photo shoots at. Some days it is pretty tough selecting my photograph for the day, and others I know exactly what I want and only take one photo for that day. I’m still perfecting my technique with Photomatix 4, practice makes perfect. I probably need to go back and revisit some of my earlier HDR work just to see how different the photograph would turn out now. One other thing that I’ve started doing is saving my final photograph in its layered form as a Adobe PSD file instead of flattening the final image and saving it as a TIFF or JPG. I regret not saving my earlier Project 365 final photos as PSDs along with the final JPGs. Maintaining a PSD of the final photographs permits going back to the photo and re-editing it if I choose to do so at a later date. Now any final photograph I edit also gets saved as a PSD. What’s your workflow process like? I’d like to know. Follow me on My Website | Google Plus | Twitter | Facebook | 500px | Tumblr

100 Strangers - 026/100 on Flickr.
© 2012 Eric Adeleye Photography. I was in Best Buy looking at the Canon Selphy CP800 printer when Jessie walked by me and asked if the Selphy was a printer because it is so small. I told Jessie that it is a portable printer that does 4”x6” prints. We chatted or a bit more and I popped the question. Can I take your photograph? Jessie agreed and I shot the photograph in seconds. You have to be ready to take the photograph when a stranger says yes. If you have to spend time putting your camera together, you may just lose a potential photograph. I made sure I thanked him, got his first name, email address, and gave him my business card before I left to search for my next stranger to photograph. 100 Strangers - 025/100 on Flickr.
© 2012 Eric Adeleye Photography. Once again, someone spotted my D200 with the SB-700 flash dangling from my hip and asked me a question about it. I will tell you, anyone who asks me about my camera is going to receive a request from me to take their photograph. Hayden was such a person. Hayden saw my camera in Best Buy and made a comment to me about it. Hayden then showed me the Canon EOS 7D that he said he thought about getting. After we chatted for a bit more, Hayden told me that he was an up & coming hip-hop artist. Hayden has been into music since the age of 13, and his biggest influence is NAS. Hayden had no problems agreeing to have his photograph taken. I told thanked Hayden for his time and told him to get up with me if he wants to do a photo shoot. With my business card in hand and his email address written down in my notepad, I departed looking for someone else who wanted to unknowingly be a participant in my 100 Strangers Project. 100 Strangers - 023 & 024/100 on Flickr.
© 2012 Eric Adeleye Photography. I met Mary and Leah in Best Buy while I was walking through the photography section. The ladies spotted my D200 hanging off of my Black Rapid RS-7 strap and asked me if I knew something about photography. I said sure and listened to their questions. They were looking at filters for the Canon camera that Leah had, and a fish-eye lens. I directed them to check out Southeastern Camera, the only camera store in Wilmington, but they were closed unfortunately. They had no problems with taking a photograph for my 100 Strangers project. I ended the brief exchange like I always do. I thanked them for their time, made sure I had the correct spelling of their respective names, wrote down their email addresses, and gave them each my business card. Thank you ladies for participating. Follow me on Google Plus | Twitter | Facebook | 500px | Tumblr | Website

© 2012 Eric Adeleye Photography. While taking a few photographs outside of the Wilmington National Cemetery, Rich rode by me on his bike and asked me what I was doing. I was taking photographs of the United States Colored Troops sign outside of the cemetery. Rich said to me “you don’t see many people walking around with a nice camera like yours.” As soon as Rich had stopped to ask me a question about my Nikon D200, I had already decided that I was going to ask him if I could take his picture for my project. It is always nice to meet pleasant people like Rich in the community. Follow me on Google Plus | Twitter | Facebook | 500px | Tumblr | Website
